National Dessert Day is a holiday celebrated in the United States annually on October 14th. It is known as one of America’s favorite holidays because unlike most days, a lot of people aren’t worried about the extra carbs or cheating on their diet or having to go and sneak a dessert behind everyones back. National Dessert Day was created to satisfy your sweet tooth and allow you to indulge in any dessert that you want to. 

Dessert, coming from the French word “desservir” means to remove that which had been served. Desserts became popular around the 15th century when chefs started adding a lot of sugar to their savory dishes, which is why dessert is now considered as sweet treats.

From the 15th century, desserts started to become popular around the world and in the 19th century desserts became very popular in the United States. Popular desserts around the 19th century in the United States were Vanilla Sponge Cake, Vanilla Ice Cream topped with chocolate glaze, banana split, key lime pie cheesecake and ice cream cone.
